Legal Secretary Full-Time, Hourly, 35 to 40 Hours/Week, Hunterdon County, New Jersey

Now hiring a legal secretary to support a boutique law practice focused in New Jersey real estate, land use, farm, and business law. The hours are negotiable with ideal hours being 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break.  Salary is hourly and commensurate with experience and current rates. Health and dental insurances and paid vacation, paid holidays, and paid sick leave are offered as per company policies.

The legal secretary will support a busy attorney in working directly on client matters.  The work includes drafting letters and legal documents using templates, completing applications and forms as per provided instructions, collating and assembling applications, assisting the attorney on time sensitive projects, updating the client matter tracking system (training provided), document organization and filing, contact and calendar management, phone and email communications, scheduling, coordinating and confirming team meetings, preparing certified mailings, light and occasional errands, and notarizing documents (notary credentials may be obtained after starting work).

The legal secretary will work with confidential information and directly communicate with diverse clients.  Discretion, confidentiality, kindness, and professionalism are essential to joining our team. Familiarity with real estate or farming is preferred but not required.

The position combines in-office work located in Hunterdon County with work-from-home approximately 1 day per week.  The legal secretary will need available transportation and a valid driver’s license to commute to work and assist with occasional, client-related errands.  The legal secretary will notarize documents in New Jersey and maintain a notary book.  Dogs are often in the office, so comfort and the ability to be around dogs is necessary.

The law practice heavily relies upon the use of technology to work efficiently and accommodate work from home and attorney travel.  The legal secretary will need to be proficient with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and learning the client management and billing software, Clio.  AI may not be used as a substitute for employee knowledge and skills.

To apply, please provide: 1) cover letter; 2) resume; 3) three references; and 4) wage request.  Application materials should be mailed to info@nlvlegal.com.  No phone calls, please.

You may also apply on Indeed here.

Note that we also have an open Paralegal position, which can be viewed here.
